Resumen

En este artículo describo los modos en que la enfermedad se hace cognoscible en el curso de transacciones clínicas y sociales en el barrio de Bhagwanpur Kheda en el este de Delhi. Los padecimientos pueden ser considerados como ejemplos de cuasi-eventos que se insertan en las rutinas de la vida cotidiana pero que también pueden transformarse en eventos críticos o catastróficos que pueden quebrar las relaciones en curso. Este interjuego entre lo ordinario y lo catastrófico, entre lo normal y lo crítico, entre las normas vitales y las normas sociales es precisamente lo que me interesa desarrollar en este artículo.
