In Argentina, from the end of 1976, Montoneros established its headquarters in Mexico City. However, despite the support and openness of the Mexican government for its installation, its exile there was far from being a relaxed period while it was building its political strategy abroad. The heterogeneous composition of the Mexican government and its geopolitical agenda made the Peronist organization go through an exile between protection and surveillance of its activities. There, Montoneros faced different episodes that tested its political apparatus and the objectives of its stay abroad. Thus, in this article we analyze part of the political construction of the Montoneros in Mexico, based on some of the moments that strained their presence and survival there. This analysis will be based on different sources, including testimonies, internal documents from the Peronist organization, press archives, as well as intelligence reports from the Mexican government.
Fernando León Romero Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 La desaparición forzada de personas en América Latina https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1818
The article aims to show comparatively the existence of certain similar characteristics in the repressive political violence implemented by Latin American states in the 1970s and 1980s (Argentina, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador), especially the modus operandi of the forced disappearance of people in urban areas, and to seek an explanation for it. The hypothesis is based on the perspective of the renewed field of Latin American Cold War studies and an in-depth and cross-referenced analysis of sources provided by different archives, mostly Argentinean. It considers that the places of formation, instruction, contact and transnational coordination opened by the Armed Forces of Argentina, as part of their collaboration in the “counter-subversive struggle” in Central America, were spaces of contact that played a central role in the transnationalization of various forms of political repression, such as the modus operandi of the forced disappearance of persons.
This article studies the political orientations of the activism of the Organización Comunista Poder Obrero (OCPO) in exile in Mexico between 1977 and 1982. It analyzes the existence of a dual perspective that sustained the validity of the revolution, and at the same time focused its agenda in the denunciation of the dictatorship and the defense of human rights. In this framework, the organization deployed its own perspective on democracy.
Federico Cormick Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 Disidentes en el exilio https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1822
By means of historiographical and theoretical-political tools, this article focuses on the formation of the last dissident group of the Argentinian political-military organization Montoneros, Montoneros 17 de Octubre. Its emergence, networks and debates are reconstructed questioning the transformations of the armed revolutionary subjectivity that took place in exile. For this purpose, internal documents, statements, press organs and oral and written testimonies are used. Which meanings about violence did they hold? What idea of revolution did they defend? How were these elements of militancy of the seventies hybridized with the notion of democracy and human rights that circulated at the beginning of the eighties? Through these questions, the article aims to: a) contribute to the study of the internal discussions and the normative culture of the armed groups of the new Latin American left in the 1960s and 1970s; b) contribute to the examination of the transnational networks that crossed and sustained these groups; c) contribute to the analysis of the exile experiences resulting from the repression of the dictatorships established in the Southern Cone; and d) contribute to the understanding of the displacement of revolutionary subjectivity at the end of the 1970s and the beginning of the 1980s.
Daniela Slipak Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 La Internacional Socialista y la ruptura del socialismo argentino (1958-1961) https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1823
This article explores the relationship between the Socialist International and the Argentine socialist parties that emerged from the 1958 split between that year and 1961. In 1958, the historic Socialist Party of Argentina fractured into two formations known as the Partido Socialista Argentino (PSA) and the Partido Socialista Democrático (PSD). Both parties soon turned to the Socialist International for resources to legitimise themselves as the

true continuation of the original trunk. The Socialist International was also interested in keeping the Argentine representative in its midst, as he was a key player in its expansion throughout the rest of Latin America. Our intention is thus to analyse the causes of the 1958 split, the arguments defended by each of the Argentine groups and the strategies of the Socialist International to achieve reunification. To this end, we mainly use the documents and correspondence of the Socialist International kept at the Internaational Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis in Amsterdam.
Joaquín Baeza Belda Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 Entre homogeneización y pluralidad https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1828
This article explores the role of graphic novels in social memory studies through a comparative analysis of Grito de Victoria by Augusto Mora and Kent State: Four Dead in Ohio by Derf Backderf, both produced in the second decade of the 21st century. The study focuses on how these graphic novels address the memories of student repression within a globalized context. Using an exploratory approach and a documentary methodology, the research combines bibliographic and iconographic analysis with interviews with the authors to provide an analytic view of graphic narratives. The article is structured into five interrelated sections: (1) a descriptive synthesis of the repression memories in both novels; (2) a contextualization of the graphic novel medium within the globalization of communication; (3) an analysis of how local interpretations are integrated into an international framework; (4) a discussion on resistance to cultural homogenization; and (5) a final reflection on how graphic novels address repression memories in a transnational context. This approach helps to understand how graphic novels contribute to the representation and critical reflection of sociopolitical experiences in an interconnected world.
Juan Sebastián Granada Cardona Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 La campaña por la liberación de Luis Corvalán https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1829
This article is dedicated to the study of the media campaign undertaken in support of the liberation of the Chilean communist leader Luis Corvalán, specifically focusing on the documentary production dedicated to his figure between 1973 and 1977. These works were largely produced by the cinematic propaganda structures of socialist regimes, with the Soviet case being particularly prominent. Our objective is to identify and analyze these productions, understanding the causes, symbols, and representations generated around the figure of Luis Corvalán in this context of international mobilization. As this is a historical study from a connected perspective, the methodology involves cross-referencing visual and written sources from audiovisual archives (especially online), periodicals of communist parties in Europe, as well as film magazines and bulletins from solidarity organizations with Chile. The article seeks to highlight the documentary dimension of the international mobilization against the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, using the case of Luis Corvalán as a focal point. We will explore how he became a symbol and catalyst for these campaigns, spanning the peak period of a solidarity recognized as anti-fascist, particularly orchestrated from the Eastern Bloc during the period studied.
Marcy Campos Pérez Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 Desbordes culturales entre Buenos Aires y Madrid https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/papdetrab/article/view/1830
In 1985, the Spanish journalist in Argentina, Cristina Aledo, compared the “movida madrileña” with the Buenos Aires countercultural movement of the 1980s. Within the framework of growing interactions between both capitals, the latter was soon labeled as: the “movida under”, in reference to the former. Argentine exiles to Spain were frequent since the last Argentine military dictatorship (1976-1983) and, in the post-dictatorship, were sustained in the form of experimental trips, which combined three elements: a solidarity network; a settled path in terms of the recognition of Argentine aesthetics and sonorities in the Spanish capital; and shared ways of doing things between locals and porteños. Spanish artists, for their part, had an exile past in Buenos Aires linked, especially, to the Civil War. In this article, we investigate those links between styles and forms of creative work, starting with the case of artist Daniel Panullo, who left Argentina in 1984 and founded the group Los Productos Lola in Madrid. He kept the techniques and aesthetics of the group he was part of in Buenos Aires, Los Peinados Yoli. His journey allows us to approach the complex network of artists from different disciplines in Madrid and the links they weaved.
Marina Suárez Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34 Una historia de cómo nos endeudamos. Through the imaginary, the classes portray themselves and configure themselves as active agents in the struggle for the construction and defense of their ideology and structural interests. In this article, we address certain metaphors that inhabit the imaginary of a key social category in the arena of the struggle for the economic surplus: the business fraction of the property-owning class. To do so, we adopt the framework of Emmanuel Lizcano's socio-metaphorical analysis (2006; 2003). In methodological terms, the present research is based on a qualitative, hermeneutic approach, based on the critical-interpretative study of texts published by representative organizations of the aforementioned social category in the period 2019-2024.
Leandro Rodríguez Zulma Bouchet Mauro Marcelo Müller Juan Lauro Franco Copyright (c) 2024 2024-12-01 2024-12-01 18 34
