Cadenas globales de valor y desarrollo económico

Resumen

El presente artículo procura analizar algunos aportes teóricos y empíricos del corpus de las “cadenas globales de valor” (CGV) al estudio del desarrollo económico. Primero, se revisan los elementos conceptuales centrales del paradigma de las CGV, para luego analizar las tendencias centrales de la geografía económica mundial en la era de las CGV (enfatizando en lo ocurrido a partir de los años ‘90). Por último se cierra con algunas reflexiones en torno a la inserción en CGV y las posibilidades de desarrollo. Como conclusión principal, destacamos que la alternativa no es “mucha o poca inserción en las CGV” y, que en todo caso, el desafío sigue siendo evitar aquellas formas de inserción internacional que impulsen un crecimiento empobrecedor y excluyente.
