2021-11-162021-11-1617A proposal for measuring multidimensional poverty in Argentina (2004-2019)
https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/redd/article/view/1047

In this work, eight indicators were used to capture multidimensional poverty based on a new form of aggregation, the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) of Alkire and Foster (2011). The main contribution lies in the increase of dimensions and indicators, compared to those used by INDEC, with the aim of better describing the different poverty situations, to generate more focused public policies. The MPI was constructed at the national level and by regions of Argentina using microdata from the Permanent Household Survey. It was observed that the MPI declined sharply between 2004-2009 and then slowed down, adding up to a total drop of 5.1 pp. In fact, the MPI increased slightly between 2014 and 2019 in Cuyo and NOA. The greatest privations were found in access to health and employment.
Florencia M. FaresFederico FavataRicardo G. Martínez

2021-05-032021-05-0317Pork agroindustrial sector coordination as a bridge for the development of competitive advantages
https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/redd/article/view/1049

The purpose of this work was to study the performance of the Argentine pork agroindustrial chain to identify the potential and the limitations to the development of the activity in the country and its insertion abroad. For this, the study was delimited from a map of the chain. Then, a sectoral diagnosis was made through the development of the Porter Diamond and, within this, the relationship between two of its edges was addressed: The conditions of the factors and the conditions of the demand, based on the study of the relationship between the increase in production and 3 explanatory variables (consumption, exports and% of lean) between 2009 and 2019. The results showed a growth in activity in recent years in technical and commercial aspects (higher conversion efficiency, improvements in the quality of cattle, increase in domestic demand and exports). However, it is observed that this improvement in the performance of the agroindustrial chain is limited to a reduced number of productive and industrial units, which account for 84% of the work, with a high technological level and innovative forms of coordination. The simple linear regression model showed a high correlation between production and the 3 variables studied. There is a great space for the construction of competitive advantages whose development will require innovation in the organizational designs of the actors, especially those of smaller scale.
E. 2021-05-032021-05-0317The insertion of the textile sector of Mexico, the United States and China into global value chains
https://revistasacademicas.unsam.edu.ar/index.php/redd/article/view/1050

Global Value Chains (GVC) are the result of international fragmentation of production. In this context, with the textile industry as the focus of this research, the GVC participation of Mexico, the United States and China in the period 2005-2015 is analyzed, with value-added trade data from the database TiVA (OECD). The paper includes a statistical analysis of the s exports share and production linkages from these three countries in the GVC of textiles. The results highlight the importance of value-added flows with the predominance of Mexico's backward linkages and the increase of China's forward ones.
Óscar Rodil MarzábalAna Laura Gómez Pérez
