Pio Collivadino's Santa Federación draws attention in the context of the artist's overall production both because of its iconography and its formal treatment. Its analysis within the Pio Collivadino Museum Collection and the Buenos Aires cultural and historical context in the early decades of the twentieth century allow us to relate it with an unexplored aspects of the artist's career: his link with the theater and the scenery, which lead us to date it c. 1923. This paper discusses in detail the relationship of Santa Federación with other Collivadino's works on historical themes; with increasing interest in the gure and the Rosas era in the '20s and his recovery from the eld of academic history; the art production of Pedro Figari and with the artist's customs, which left footprints in the Collection of the Museum that bears his name.
