This text is a report of a fieldwork carried out in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, in 1988-1989. The objective was to carry out a survey of the photographers and studios installed in that province in a unique time, marked by the colonizing and agrarian development that was simultaneous with the expansion of the photographic activity in the country. This type of survey had no local precedents, so the challenge of proposing its own methods and procedures had to be faced. After a year, photographic collections were located, a sampling of images was produced in 35 mm and this heritage was disseminated, which favored the preservation of the works.
