Egg tempera as a reintegration medium for easel painting

Abstract

In this article the egg tempera retouch technique will be evaluated as well as the materials' behavior and the pictorial effects in order to discuss its pros and cons when used in reintegration as well as the retratability of the method.

Records of its use in Germany in the 20^th Century will be exposed and, since there are no records of this tecnique being used in Argentina, it was applied on an easel painting of the colonial period as a test.
