“Remontar los conceptos a su situación específica”, hoy: Aporías y conflictos

Resumen

¿Qué sentido tiene escribir la historia de un concepto hoy? Por lo general, esta pregunta tiene una respuesta obvia. Una historia de este tipo nos permite identificar el contexto social en el que surgió un concepto determinado, rastrear sus declinaciones históricas hasta el momento actual, y señalar los retos políticos que implica su movilización. Sin embargo, si los antagonismos sociales se aceptan fácilmente como la matriz de la aparición y del consiguiente desarrollo de un concepto, la empresa contemporánea de escribir una historia de este tipo se interpreta frecuentemente como situada al margen de dichos conflictos, y su función se describe en términos de una identificación erudita de las aporías conceptuales y de una promoción irenista de la pluralidad política. En contraste con tal interpretación, este artículo comienza por subrayar la íntima relación entre la Begriffsgeschichte como paradigma historiográfico e histórico y el concepto de Crítica. Después de revisar el relato de Koselleck sobre el surgimiento histórico de la Crítica, el artículo resitúa las tensiones ideológicas constitutivas de esta última dentro de las problematizaciones religiosas de la primera modernidad sobre nuestra relación con el pasado, con la autoridad y con la verdad. Por último, concluye afirmando que la historia de los conceptos puede mejorar su potencial crítico reconociendo plenamente su continua participación en estas luchas.
